Oh, no. Not again.

The house is full of apples again (and that one pear)--apples just past their prime. I love them too much, and bring way too many home. Why does the world have banana bread, but no bread for the dead apple? I'm looking for one, and in a bit of a hurry, because it's starting to look like the Collyer brothers' house around here. If the Collyer brothers had run fruit stand.

  1. Hey, Embly...I'm thinking there must be a way to make apple butter out of tired apples. I'm going to a Buttermilk Biscuit event tonight*, taught by local wunderkind Scott Peacock, so I'll ask him if Miss Edna passed along any magic recipes for apple buttah...
(* well, it is Jawjuh, aftuh awl...)

  2. Didn't we go to a play a jillion years ago about the Collyer brothers? Reg Rogers was in it.

  3. I am a fan of applesauce. of course I'm biased because my 2 year old loves homemade applesauce. Chop, cook, condense, cinnamon. It also freezes well in an ice cube tray for use later.

Also, I often chop my apples that are past their prime and add to salads.
